Signing out
How to sign out of TDACorp from your account or from an application, what the confirmation says, and what the signed-out page offers.
On this page
Signing out ends your session on this browser. Afterwards the browser is no longer signed in to TDACorp, and the applications that signed you in through that session lose access. There are two ways to start it: from your own account, and from an application you were using.
From your account#
Open the account menu at the foot of the navigation (on a phone, in the strip across the top), the one that shows your picture, name and username, and select Sign out. A dialog titled Signing out opens over the page and says Ending your session. This usually takes a second or two. When the session has ended, you land on the signed-out page. The dialog only shows progress: there is no extra confirmation to answer.
If it fails, the dialog is titled Could not sign out and says Could not sign you out. Try again, or use the sign-out page. If it takes too long, it says This is taking longer than expected. Check your connection and try again, or use the sign-out page. Select Try again to repeat it, or Cancel to close the dialog. The link Sign-out page opens a confirmation page, titled Sign out of TDACorp?, which says Sign out of your TDACorp account on this browser. Select Sign out there to end the session, or Stay signed in to go back to your account.
Signing out here ends the session on this browser only. Your sessions on other devices stay as they are. To end those, or every session at once, use Devices. See Sessions and devices.

- Sign out, which ends the session on this browser.
- Stay signed in.
From an application#
An application can ask TDACorp to sign you out, for example when you choose Sign out inside it. TDACorp then shows the confirmation page, titled Sign out of TDACorp?, with the application named: it says the application asked to sign you out of your TDACorp account. You still decide, and Stay signed in goes back to your account.
- Select Sign out to confirm. The session ends.
- TDACorp sends you back to the application, if it gave an address it had registered for that purpose.
- If the application did not give a valid return address, you land on the signed-out page.
If the request cannot be checked, for example because it did not carry valid proof of who asked, the page says The request could not be checked, so you will be signed out here only. and still lets you sign out. It will not send you back to the application. If the request is not valid at all, the page says This sign-out request is not valid. and offers Continue, which takes you to your account.
The applications that signed in through your session can be told that it ended. See Back-channel logout for how an application learns that.
The signed-out page#
After you sign out, the page is titled You are signed out, with the line Your session on this browser has ended. Its one button, Sign in again, takes you to the sign-in page. The same page is shown if you open the sign-out address when no session is left to end, so opening it twice does no harm.

- Sign in again.
When you are signed out without asking#
You can also be signed out because the session ended by itself. A session ends after a period with no activity and after a maximum length; the numbers are on Security practices. It also ends when you used Sign out everywhere, or when you changed your password or removed a passkey on another device. The next page you open then asks you to sign in. See Sessions and devices.
