Email preferences
The Settings tab of Notifications, covering which emails are always sent, which two you can turn on or off, and what is stored.
On this page
The Settings tab of Notifications, titled Notification settings, is about email. Email is the only channel. The page says: "Choose which email you get. Security alerts are always sent."
What you can change#
Under Email, with the lead "Choose which optional email you get.", there are three items.
| Item | Can you change it? | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Security alerts | No. Marked Always on. | Sign-in alerts and account changes are sent whatever you choose here. |
| Product updates | Yes, a switch. | News about changes to TDACorp products you use. |
| Marketing email | Yes, a switch. | Offers and announcements from TDACorp. |
- Open Notifications in the account navigation and select the Settings tab.
- Turn Product updates or Marketing email on or off.
- Select Save changes in the top bar. The button stays disabled until you change a switch.
- The page confirms with Preferences saved.
Nothing is saved until you select Save changes. Marketing email is off by default.
Changing these settings needs no second factor.

- Security alerts, marked Always on.
- The Product updates switch.
- Save changes.
Security alerts cannot be turned off#
Security alerts are the emails about changes to how your account is protected, and about sign-ins that look unfamiliar. There is no switch for them because the platform has none: they are sent to every one of your verified email addresses, not only the primary one. An address you have not verified does not receive them.
Because of that, keeping at least one verified address that you read is part of keeping the account safe. See Sign-in alert emails for what is sent and when.
Who receives security alerts#
Every address on your account that you have verified receives each alert. If you add a second address and verify it, both get the alert, so a change made by someone with access to only one mailbox is still visible in the other. An address you added but did not verify receives nothing.
When your primary address is changed, the alert says so, and the old address is sent a link that undoes the change, so someone who takes over an account cannot move its email quietly. The page that link opens says Undo the change and, after you use it, tells you to secure your account if you did not make the change.
Alert emails are written in the language saved in your profile (English, French or Spanish), and in English when none is saved. Which changes send an alert is listed on Sign-in alert emails. The same events also appear in your security feed, whether or not you read the email.
What is actually sent today#
The two optional kinds are stored as your choice. The privacy notice states that nothing in the platform sends product update or marketing email today, so the switches only record your choice. They change nothing you receive today. See Privacy.
The preferences are included in your data export, with the rest of what the platform holds about you. See Exporting your data.
What can go wrong#
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| An error line under the form | Saving failed. The message says why. Try again. |
| You still get security email after switching everything off | Expected. Security alerts are always sent. |
