Linked accounts

Link a Google or GitHub account so you can sign in with it, see what linking does, and unlink an account.

On this page

A linked account lets you sign in with an account you already have at another provider, such as Google or GitHub, instead of typing a password. The Linked accounts tab says Sign in with an account you already have at another provider.

Which providers you can link depends on your organization, so the list on your account may be shorter, or empty. When the platform offers none, the tab says Linked accounts are not turned on and This platform does not offer signing in with another provider. On the Security overview, the Linked accounts row only appears when linking or merging is offered.

What linking does#

Linking connects the provider's account to your TDACorp account. After that, the sign-in page can offer a button for that provider, and choosing it signs you in to your own account. The platform needs the provider to share an email address for the account.

Signing in this way counts as a single step. Changing your security settings still needs a second factor used in the last 30 minutes. If you only have a linked account, the confirmation dialog can offer Continue with the provider, which sends you back to sign in at the provider again. See The Security overview.

The Linked accounts tab of the security settings: the page says No accounts linked.
Linked accounts: none linked yet. Sample data./account/security/linked

Two accounts of your own#

If you have a second TDACorp account of your own, the tab can offer Merge another account into this one, described under Have a second account of your own? See Merge accounts. It shows only where merging is available.

Managed accounts#

An account that an organization manages (a managed identity) cannot add, change or remove its own sign-in methods here: those requests are refused, because the organization's directory connection is its only way in.
